Setting your price
5 min read · Start from the value you create, charge more than feels comfortable, and offer monthly and annual plans.
Price isn't a detail
Your price decides how many customers you need. It also shapes what kind of customers you attract. Lots of beginners price too low out of fear. That's usually a mistake.
Start from value
Don't start from your costs, or from the cheapest option on the market. Start from what your tool does for your customer.
- How much time does it save them?
- What mistake or loss does it prevent?
- What revenue does it help them bring in?
Example: your tool saves a freelancer 3 hours a month. If their hour is worth $40 to them, that's $120 of value a month. A $25 price still feels reasonable to them. This is an illustration, not a formula.
